Office for Mac that comes with a Microsoft 365 subscription is updated on a regular basis to provide new features, security updates, and non-security updates. The following information is primarily intended for IT professionals who are deploying Office for Mac to the users in their organizations.

• Microsoft has launched a new version of Outlook for Mac but the bad news for some users is that it will no longer allow them to connect other email accounts to it. Forbes has noted that the new version of Outlook for Mac does not yet support either the widely used IMAP or iCloud email protocols. This means that if your email account only supports the IMAP protocol or you're using Outlook.
• This will check for available updates, and download the latest software update on your computer. On some versions, this option may also be named Install Updates. Make sure your PC is up to date before updating Outlook 2010. If your Windows system is not up to date, you'll be taken to the Microsoft website.

Older versions up to and including 16.16 can be activated with an Office 2016 for Mac volume license. You can't activate version 16.17 or later with an Office 2016 for Mac volume license. To check the version number of Microsoft Outlook 2013, you can do as following:

Click the File > Office Account firstly, and then click the About Outlook button, and you will get the version number at the top of popping up About Microsoft Outlook dialog box. See the following screen shots:

  But having to know the version you have before you can determine the version you have limits its functionality somewhat, dontchathink?

  Otherwise, Microsoft has changed it again.

    You have changed my hotmail to Outlook. I have a MacBook Pro and I cannot see 'Outlook' on the menu bar so that I can find out which version of Outlook you have changed me to!
